Curatorial Introduction
The works presented here unfold through a sustained engagement with the domestic interior as a site of psychological, symbolic and material attention. Across several related series, the project examines how bodies, objects and environments participate in the formation of meaning within everyday space.
Early works focus on the staged portrayal of masculinity, situating male figures within carefully composed interiors where posture, clothing and surrounding objects begin to suggest the constructed nature of identity. As the series progresses, the human figure gradually recedes and attention shifts toward the interior itself. Objects begin to assume a greater symbolic presence, carrying traces of intimacy, absence and memory.
This movement from body to object reflects a broader conceptual shift within the project. Drawing upon psychoanalytic and phenomenological thought alongside traditions of still-life and portraiture, the work considers how interiors quietly structure experience. The domestic space emerges not merely as a setting but as a field of relations in which identity, desire and material presence unfold over time.
Constructing Masculinity (2012)
Building on this inquiry, Constructing Masculinity examines how visual conventions inherited from Renaissance portraiture continue to inform contemporary representations of the male body.

In The Unknown Icon the figure becomes more distant and ambiguous, shifting attention toward the psychological atmosphere of the interior.

This early series investigates masculinity through staged domestic environments, exploring how identity is constructed through posture, gesture and the surrounding arrangement of objects.

Still-Life – Landscapes of the Interior
In the later still-life works the figure disappears entirely. Objects assume the expressive role once occupied by the body, allowing the domestic interior itself to become the central field of inquiry.
Works on Paper
Works on paper extend the investigation of the interior into a more immediate, material register, where the image is formed through direct contact with surface rather than through photographic construction.
These works operate alongside the photographic practice, not as preparatory studies but as parallel investigations into how the interior can be formed, encountered and understood.
